Match Report: Goalless draw away at Torrent CF (0-0)
VCF Mestalla played on Tuesday evening their eleventh preseason friendly away at Torrent CF at the Municipal San Gregorio on plastic pitch which ended scoreless albeit with a solid devensive showing from Oscar García’s men.
VCF Mestalla took charge of proceedings in the early goings trying to dictate the tempo in possession. Pedro Alemañ and Carlos González’s had efforts going off target on the half hour mark.
VCF Mestalla did not have much defensive work to do except for a spot-kick which he kept out with a smart diving save to Jefrie’s twelve-yard effort to keep the scoreline level at 0-0 with nothing to separate the sides at half-time.
The second half started at a much higher tempo and opening up in certain spells. Torrent CF came close to breaking the deadlock through a Joselu effort which went begging. Moments later VCF Mestalla responded at the other end through Hugo Gonzalez blasting it over the crossbar following a quick exchange on the edge of the area and then Facundo García tried his luck with an attempt from a tight angle.
The final whistle blew and the match finished 0-0. Valencia CF Mestalla will take on UD Ibiza for their final preseason friendly of this long and unusual pre-season ahead of facing Atzeneta UE on the opening day.
